The Quarry Today
The increasing demand for homes in San Diego makes it inevitable that someday, someone will redevelop the quarry, as it is at the end of its life cycle and is surrounded on all sides by homes, offices, and shopping.
By reusing the quarry, we can create a model solution that provides attainable homes close to jobs — reducing commuter freeway traffic, promoting transit ridership, and meeting some of Mission Valley's most pressing needs.
The site provides a unique opportunity to provide affordable homes, a new public park, Mission Valley's first public school, a fire station site, and urgently needed traffic improvements.
And rather than an office complex on nearby land by the river that could generate nearly 10,000 traffic trips per day, upon approval of Quarry Falls we will donate this land for a new 17-acre river park to the San Diego River Park Foundation.
